River iced over in with two bridges in view, peaceful winter scene encouraging mindfulness and self-care at your own pace, Schaefer Counselling Services.

The beginning of December often comes with a rush — decorations appear, invitations arrive, the pressure to prepare ramps up quickly. For many people, this shift feels overwhelming instead of joyful.

You’re allowed to approach this month differently.

Not everyone enters December with excitement or energy. Some people are navigating grief, burnout, stress, loneliness, or complicated family dynamics. Others simply prefer a softer, slower transition into winter.

There’s no “right” way to feel.

This month, see if you can offer yourself permission to:

  • take things one step at a time
  • intentionally keep your pace gentle
  • make room for your actual energy
  • honour your own emotional landscape

You don’t have to rush into December.
You can arrive slowly — and that’s more than enough.
